Why Tulleys Tulip Fest Should Be Your Next Colourful Escape in the Spring

Instagram is currently exploding with colour in the form of tulips, wisteria and spring flowers and one of the most popular places to visit this Spring is Tulleys Tulip Fest. Tulleys Farm in Sussex holds regular seasonal events from the infamous Shocktoberfest, to the Christmas Experience.
With the huge popularity of the tulip fields in Holland, Tulleys Tulips is one of their newest experiences on the farm.

This natural spectacle features over 500,000 tulips, with 100 different varieties. It is a place where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of spring and leave the dreariness of winter far behind.
Tulleys Tulip Fest

Located in the heart of the countryside, Tulleys Tulips is home to one of the most impressive tulip displays in the region.
I visited on a Thursday morning, hoping it would be quieter to enjoy the displays without wrestling with other photographers, influencers and families on a day out. However, due to the huge popularity of this tulip fest all over social media, it was still extremely busy.
The Setup

As I approached the farm, I was greeted by a vintage truck, with buckets full of tulips. I then entered a large barn and after showing my ticket (priced at Β£12 to Β£15), I found myself in a large courtyard complete with huge planters of tulips, and food vendors showcasing Dutch food and the Tulip bar. Here you can purchase Dutch pancakes, hot drinks and cocktails.

With a latte in my hand, I walked over to the tulip fields themselves. There are plenty of backdrops in the fields, providing lots of photography opportunities. These include a wooden bridge, bench, large wheelbarrow, vintage trucks and the imposing wooden windmill that provides a wonderful backdrop to the tulips.
Tulip Fields

The tulip fields themselves were impressive. As far as the eye could see, I was greeted by rows upon rows of tulips in a dazzling array of colours. From deep reds to bright yellows, soft pinks to vibrant purples, each variety is carefully cultivated to achieve peak bloom during the visit.
It was a sunny and calm day, with bees buzzing around and birds cheerfully singing. I spent around an hour walking through the rows, bemused at the amount of people trying to get the perfect Instagram shot. Tulleys even put on wandering acoustic musicians to keep us all entertained whilst we took photos. A truly immersive experience! :)

The farm employs organic farming practices to ensure that the tulips grow in harmony with the local ecosystem. This commitment to sustainability not only helps protect the environment but also ensures that the tulips are healthier and more vibrant.
Things to Do at Tulleys Tulip Fest

Tulleys Tulips isnβt only about leisurely strolls through colourful fields. The farm also offers educational tours that explain the intricate process of tulip farming, from planting and care to harvest. These tours are a great way for visitors of all ages to learn about the botanical aspects of tulips and the environmental conditions necessary for their growth.

In addition to the educational tours, Tulleys hosts a variety of seasonal events that celebrate the beauty of tulips and the arrival of spring. These events might include tulip-picking days, where visitors can create their own bouquets, and spring festivals featuring local crafts and foods, making it a perfect family-friendly destination.
Planning Your Visit

When planning your visit to Tulleys Tulips, itβs important to check the farmβs website for the peak bloom schedule. The tulip season typically lasts from early April to late May, but this can vary depending on the weather conditions throughout the year.

Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a camera to capture the spectacular views. Picnic areas are available for those who want to bring a snack or a meal, although the farm had plenty of food and drink on offer and proved very popular.
Itβs also a dog-friendly event, as long as dogs are on leads. Tulleys sells tulip-themed dog treats, collars and toys in the shop.

If you love tulips, like I do, Tulleys Tulip Fest is absolutely worth a visit. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with nature, learn about the beauty of tulips, and create lasting memories surrounded by the splendour of one of springβs most beloved flowers.
