Anova Hotel Spa Montgenevre – A French Ski Resort Gem

We kind of stumbled on this hotel when looking for accommodation on our recent family skiing trip to Montgenevre. As always, we left booking a hotel to the very last minute, and as Montgenevre over the New Year period is extremely popular, it was literally the last room left in the whole town!
Anova Hotel Spa Montgenevre is set on the outskirts of Montgenevre and is perfectly positioned for a family skiing trip. It is a ski-in/out hotel so for ski enthusiasts, its location is unbeatable.
No need to deal with shuttles or long walks carrying your gear, you can step out of the hotel and be on the slopes in minutes. Probably one of the main highlights of this wonderful hotel.
Anova Hotel Spa Montgenevre

Whether youβre an avid skier, a spa enthusiast, or simply someone looking for a relaxing getaway in a stunning mountain setting, the Anova Hotel and Spa has something for everyone.
π At a Glance. Here are our tips for staying at Anova Hotel & Spa
How to get there:
- βοΈ Turin Airport is 100 km away, where we decided to fly into. You can also fly to Milan which is 228 km and Grenoble which is 168 km.
- π Take the A32 from Turin Airport which takes you across the border to France. The journey in a car takes around 1 hour 20 mins.
- π There are no direct transport links from Turin to Montgenevre, but Anova Hotel & Spa can arrange transfers for you if you haven’t got a car.
- 𧳠There are package deals if you prefer ATOL protection, from ski holiday providers like Sno.
Top Tips for Visiting Montgenevre:
- π MontgenΓ¨vreβs season runs from December to April. For the best snow and fewer crowds, consider visiting in January or March. The hotelβs popularity means it can fill up quickly, especially during peak ski season. Make your reservations well in advance to secure your spot.
- π As mentioned, the resort is easily accessible, with Turin Airport just over an hourβs drive away. Transfers are readily available, or you can rent a car for added flexibility.
- πΆ There is underground parking available for β¬12 a day. As we were new to Montgenevre, we decided to book a space. But in all honesty, we probably could have found a space in the adjoining streets.
- π Donβt forget to bring your swimsuit so you can enjoy the pool, Jacuzzi, and other spa facilities. Also, donβt forget the basics like sunscreen, sunglasses, and layers. And if youβre travelling with toddlers, a ski harness can be a lifesaver!
- β·οΈ If you don’t have your own equipment, there are plenty of ski hire shops in Montgenevre. We rented skis, a helmet and ski poles for β¬32 for 2 days.
- π¨ The hotel often offers special deals that include spa treatments, dining, or ski passes, so be sure to ask about package options when booking.
The Anova Hotel and Spa, a modern concrete and wooden construction, boasts a modern, if somewhat smallish Spa and pool area, a decent restaurant and 40 different bedrooms, each subtly different and coming in a range of basic rooms through to larger family suite type arrangements with a separate room for the kids.

As their advertising suggests, it is located right on the edge of a ski slope, so it is indeed possible to ski up to your hotel. Co-located in the basement area is a ski hire shop, so if youβre arriving without any gear, you donβt have to go too far to get ready for the slopes and the hotel itself also provides lockers in the basement for stowing your gear.
From the moment you step into the Anova Hotel and Spa, youβll notice its unique charm. The hotel seamlessly blends modern design with cosy Alpine touches. The walls are adorned with hand-painted artwork, which the artist was happily touching up whilst we were there.

Think warm wooden interiors, plush furnishings, and large windows that let in natural light while offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Itβs a place that feels both luxurious and inviting, perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes.
The rooms and suites are thoughtfully designed to cater to a variety of guests. Whether youβre travelling solo, as a couple, or with family, youβll find accommodations that suit your needs.
Our room was a decent size, with a decent-sized double bed and sofa bed in the main room, along with the usual TV, fridge and coffee-making facilities. We had a large balcony through a set of double doors with views of the small ski slope and lift right outside our door.

In a separate room was a set of bunk beds for the children, as well as a good-sized family bathroom. You might read some online reviews that say the beds in this hotel are a bit hard, clearly everyone is different but both Mrs B and I are very keen on all things sleep and thought they were absolutely fine.
In fact, they were so fine that we struggled to get out of them much before ten a.m. every day, but that is probably more a function of our innate laziness than any sort of feature of the mattress.
Your mileage, as always, may vary.

The room was very warm, to the point where we would have to do away with the duvet as turning down the heater didn’t seem to make much difference. As soon as we arrived, we opened up the double doors to let a bit of the alpine air in and try to get rid of the stuffiness, but it did make for a very comfortable stay!
Anova Hotel Spa

Downstairs, the spa and indoor pool were very nice. The pool was freezing but quite welcoming after a hot and stuffy night in the room.
There is a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, all with views of the snowy slopes outside. There’s something quite relaxing about sitting in a jacuzzi whilst watching keen skiers outside throwing themselves down a mountain at 10 am!

The spa is free for residents between the hours of 10.00 hrs to 14.00 hrs β prime skiing time for normal people. We took full advantage of this and often found ourselves being the only ones in there.

Use after this time required payment of a further fee, but crucially, the door was always unlocked and I never saw anyone check. Both myself and Mrs B toddled down every now and then for a cheeky swim and sauna and can report it was exactly as you would expect a spa in a hotel to be.

The spa offers a range of treatments designed to pamper and soothe, from massages to facials and body scrubs. Whether youβre looking to ease sore muscles or indulge in a little self-care, the skilled therapists at Anovaβs spa have you covered.
Dining at Anova Hotel and Spa

The Anova Hotel has an on-site restaurant and bar thatβs as impressive as the rest of the property. The menu combines traditional Alpine flavours with a contemporary twist, creating dishes that are both comforting and innovative.
From charcuterie boards and fresh pasta to gourmet desserts, thereβs something to satisfy every craving.

There is an outside terrace which was hugely popular at lunchtime, with skiers enjoying hot chocolate and chips whilst the outdoor fire pit kept them warm. The views are just what you expect from a ski-in/out hotel, mountains for miles and the added humour of watching people slip over on the icy verge down to Montgenevre town.
However, it was nighttime that really set the bar and restaurant apart. There is a large fireplace with cosy seating set around it, with a huge range of alcoholic beverages and chilled music.

Although, saying that, we visited over the New Year period and after spending a few hours watching the Montgenevre New Year Fireworks and heading to our friend’s apartment in the adjacent RΓ©sidence Club mmv Le Hameau des Airelles (well worth checking out! It is cheaper, practically in the same location and each apartment is self-catered), we headed back to the Bar area just after midnight.
There was a full-on rave going on! If we didn’t have small children in tow, we probably would have stayed.

There is a little shop at the bottom of the slope where we potentially spent all our money whilst in Montgenevere! It had everything from a good selection of meats and cheese, water, milk and beverages.
Breakfast at Anova Hotel and Spa

Whilst, in the main, the hotel was very good, one of the minor irritants was around the payment of extra money for breakfast. My understanding (although it may also be my limited French) is that no room rate includes breakfast and you are required to pay an extra 20 Euros a day (for Adults, Children are 10 Euros per day) for breakfast if you want it.
In the spirit of adventure, we decided to try it once on the first day, to see if it was worth the money. Reader, it is not.

While there was a small hot selection of bacon and scrambled eggs, the coffee was from machines, and there was a reasonable, but not huge, selection of cereals, breads, fruits and ham and cheeses.
Possibly the biggest highlight was the self-service orange juice machine which required you to insert oranges into a terrifying-looking juice squeezer, press a button, and after much mechanical whirring, an inch of freshly squeezed juice came out. Repeat as necessary.
Family-Friendly Features

Traveling with kids? The Anova Hotel is a good choice for families. The spacious family rooms and suites provide plenty of room for everyone to spread out, and the hotelβs welcoming atmosphere ensures that even the youngest guests feel right at home.
The hotel also offers a range of family-friendly amenities, including a play area for kids with a pool table and babysitting services. And while the adults relax in the spa, the little ones can enjoy activities like sledging or building snowmen in the hotelβs outdoor spaces.
Ski-In/Ski-Out Convenience

For ski enthusiasts, the Anova Hotelβs location is good. Situated right by the slopes, the hotel offers ski-in/ski-out access, making it incredibly easy to hit the pistes. No need to deal with shuttles or long walks carrying your gear, you can step out of the hotel and be on the slopes in minutes.

However, the ski slope that Anova Hotel and Spa has access to is very small, so if you are an experienced skier, you will have to grab your ski equipment and either get the bus at the bottom of the hill to the main area of Montgenevre or walk around 10 minutes to the Gondola which takes you up to the Les Terrasses De Montgenèvre and beyond.
MontgenΓ¨vreβs ski area caters to all levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. The wide, gentle slopes are perfect for families and first-timers, while more experienced skiers can take advantage of the extensive runs in the Milky Way ski area, which connects to Italy.

And if skiing isnβt your thing, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy, from snowshoeing and sledging to ice skating and mountain walking.

What sets the Anova Hotel & Spa apart is its ability to cater to a wide range of guests. Whether youβre seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, this hotel delivers.
The combination of its prime location, luxurious spa, delicious dining options, and family-friendly amenities makes it a standout choice for anyone visiting Montgenèvre.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The receptionist often apologised for her poor English, to which we responded with an apology for our terrible French, in France. Nothing was too much trouble and they quickly revised our bill when they charged us for the city tax, that had been included in our original price when we booked via booking.com.

It really is a lovely hotel, especially as we weren’t there to ski (I know, who books a skiing location and then doesn’t ski, that would be us!). However, if we were to go to Montgenevre again, we would prefer to stay in a hotel that has self-catering accommodation.
We often found it difficult to find somewhere to eat in the town (probably due to the fact we visited over the New Year) and spent a fortune in the hotel restaurant. But it really is a little bit of luxury in Montgenevre surrounded by gorgeous views and the friendliest of staff.
